The FC Madras Academy is an initiative aimed at giving talented kids an opportunity to follow their dreams and become professional football players. It’s a fully sponsored program that covers everything they need on the pitch, and outside, to take their game to the next level.
Available for kids under the age of 15, the academy offers a comprehensive residential program based out of Chennai that covers all aspects of player development – from high-performance training to specialized nutrition. It is managed and run completely by certified coaches, who use specialized methods to bring the best out of players. An exciting opportunity to play for FC Madras in the AIFF Youth League and compete with the best footballers in the country
The academy will follow a rigorous curriculum that’s specially designed for high performance and will be directly overseen by our Head of Youth Development. Every week, academy players they will go through a minimum of ten sessions (90 minutes each) and play two full matches to improve their fitness and skills. In addition to broad training that focuses on fundamentals of the game, the academy will do a deep-dive into key areas like physical fitness, tactical performance, positional play and match practice.
To go with their extensive physical training, classroom sessions will be organized for players to discuss theoretical aspects of the game. They will also be taught how to play smarter as a team using video analysis and individually given psychological training that will focus on their strengths and weaknesses. The academy will also be responsible for the players’ diet, providing them with the right kind of nutrition that will help them perform on the pitch.
The best part of being in our academy is the opportunity to train at the FC Madras Arena, our home ground at Thoraipakkam, Chennai, that features a full-sized football pitch that meets international standards. It is being developed in partnership with Ramaniyam. Among other highlights, it includes a state-of-the-art artificial turf that is maintained by dedicated staff who make sure that it’s in great shape. Playing there every day is an experience unmatched by any other football academy in South India, and very few across the country.
In addition to our football pitch, the FC Madras Academy also features a facility which will be the home for all of the players and also act a head office for our operations team. It can accommodate up to 50 students at a time and also has guest accommodation for visiting parents who want to spend time with their children. In addition to lodging, the campus also features an in-house cafeteria, a well-equipped gymnasium, conference halls, screening rooms and more, made available for faculty, players, as well as guests. It is run by experienced staff who are available 24 hours to make sure that the kids are comfortable and safe.
LIFE AT THE ACADEMY
Our residential program offers the right kind of balance between on-field training and off-field activities for young players, with a focus on helping them become better footballers and also well-rounded individuals.
While they are not on the pitch, academy players will be accommodated at the FC Madras campus and enrolled into an open schooling system (based on the NIOS curriculum) to get an ongoing education on a flexible schedule. This will ensure that they pick up important skills across all facets of life, even as they continue to focus on football. As a part of their journey, they will be sharing their life with passionate footballers of all ages from across the country, in an environment that encourages diversity, discipline and respect.
The best players from the academy will also get an opportunity to represent FC Madras in the U13 or U15 division of the I-League and play among the best players in the country.
